This is our “Cuve du Patron” red wine.  A good quality wine using modern production methods that guarantee a consistent wine with excellent taste and which represents tremendous value for the everyday bottle.  Not overly complex, can be drunk easily on its own or with a meal.  At this price you cannot go wrong.  A highly recommended wine.

Description

Partner: Preignes le Vieux
Vintage: 2014
Tasting Notes: Clean and intense garnet red colour, spicy aromas of red fruit. On the palate it is round with good presence giving persistent flavour and noticeable balance in the mouth.  Best drunk young to fully appreciate its fruitiness.
Classification: IGP Pays d’Oc
Grape: Grenache, Cinsault, Cabernet-Sauvignon
Strength: 12.5%
Serve at: Room temperature, 16°C to 18°C
Serve with: Enjoy its mellow flavour on its own or with aperitifs.  A good match with beef or lamb, especially with barbecue or chilli sauces
Soil: Volcanic
Yield: 58 hectolitres/hectare
Cultivation: Vines are ploughed so no weed-killer is needed.  Pruning is short to regulate the vine’s growth and grape yields.  Vine shoots are tied along wires to get the most favourable angle to ripen the grapes.  Machine harvested at prime maturity.  All stalks and leaves are removed to avoid flavour corruption.
Vinification: The entire grapes are placed in vats. The process of fermentation starts naturally, initially with the juice that comes from burst grapes but also within each grape. The maceration lasts from 8 to 12 days to allow the full extraction of fruit flavours.

I tasted this wine for the first time at a recent dinner party. I am certainly not a connoisseur but I know what I like – I like Le Petit Pont! It has a great all round flavour to accompany a meal. I later tasted it without a meal and found it a bit light but with a meal neither you nor your guests will be disappointed.

What a great wine! I have yet to find anything that delivers the same mouthful of flavour at this level of pricing. Absolutely perfect for an impromptu party, inoffensive and delicious. At this price it can’t be beaten.
