Pique Russe 2014 – Sous la Couture
Pique Russe is the name of the fields, the name of the producer and the name of this wonderful wine. Sous le Couture reflects the name of the fields in which the Cabernet Sauvignon grapes are grown but is also a reflection of his former life marketing luxury goods. This is a new product from Yves this year using the exceptional 2014 harvest that contains the grapes usually reserved for le Temps Volé. Having tasted the Cabernet Sauvignon juice in the barrel it was decided to make this wine and what a good decision. (See also the partner notes for information on the 2014 and 2015 harvests and their implication on both Le Temps Volé and its sister wines from Pique Russe).
Made in small quantities using traditional methods Pique Russe has a strong following and is growing in reputation, particularly in the Parisian restaurants where most of the production ends up. This is yet another fine, fruity wine that can be drunk now or in years to come.
Sous la Couture (70% Cabernet Sauvignon with 30% Merlot) is the reflection of the standard Pique Russe (70% Merlot with 30% Cabernet Sauvignon). Strikingly similar in quality but distinctly different in taste with it higher tanin content, this is a truly excellent wine worthy of your time and a serious contender for the shelves in your cellar where it can mature for many years to come. A production run of only 3,000 bottles of which our quantity is limited means you will need to be quick to secure some of this fine wine.
